There are so many "rules and traditions" on how a wedding invitation should look and read. Are you annoyed yet?
You may have stumbled on this blog because everyone around you has an opinion on how everything should go at your wedding. Naturally you jumped on google and here we are. I'm happy you are here. Welcome!
In my opinion, you're the one getting married! You should have all the say on what you want for your special day.
Below are questions I often get asked about wedding invitations. The responses here are based on what our couples have done in the last 2-3 years.
Traditionally, yes.
If you prefer this style great. Here is how to use it:
ex: Saturday, the Fifth of June
Two Thousand and Twenty
Two o'clock in the Afternoon
Present day, do you baby!
I would still recommend adding the day of the week to make sure your guests know exactly when to arrive.
Ex: Saturday
08.23.20YY
3:30 in the afternoon
Think about you as a couple. Do you like an elegant style or a personalized style? Many wedding photographers offer an engagement shoot and many couples like to use those pictures for the wedding invitations. If sending pictures of yourself feels too personal or just not your style then stick to a great invitation design.
Should you send a physical invitation if you have a wedding website?
Absolutely, yes! On your invitation include your wedding website. My recent couple even added a QR code that matched their theme. I recommend doing as much as possible to make the RSVP process very quick and easy.
Should you still include a pre-addressed envelope that guests can use to send back their reply?
In the past I used to say, yes. It was hard to expect all your guests to know how to use the internet. Giving your guests a way to respond that they are familiar with felt mandatory. Wedding websites and QR codes were not a trend yet.
Present day, I don't think it's necessary anymore. Just add your website address and/or a QR code. Lets be real Senior Citizens use their cell phone as much as anyone these days. QR codes are everywhere and on everything. Honestly, I think your family members will admire how savvy you are even if they are new to it, someone will show them.
How do I get a wedding website?
Here are my top 3 favorite free wedding websites:
Do you have to send out a SAVE THE DATE card?
Yes, if you are hosting a destination wedding.
Also yes, if you have guests that will be traveling far distances. They will have to make a more expensive trip to be at your wedding, if you give them plenty of notice there is a higher chance of them being able to make it.
Save the date cards can also be a way of announcing your engagement. My couples have sent out personalized magnets and bookmarks. If it happens to be the holiday season you can create a custom Christmas tree ornament.
No, if you send out your invitations on-time or earlier than six to eight weeks before the wedding.
Thanks for stopping by!
If you are feeling stressed out because you feel the pressure from loved ones, consider getting a wedding planner.
I've seen it all! You're probably thinking … how is that going to help? Well think about this, if you want to get better at business, you get a business coach. To get lean and buff you get a person trainer. As a wedding planner, I become your coach and sort of like your agent or lawyer. Basically, I always have your back and help your relatives and friends understand why things need to happen in a specific way so that they feel educated about the trend of situation and somewhat included because people love to be a part of these huge decisions, they just don't realize how much they stress out the happy couple.
